Blyndfold
Progressive Metal from Dortmund, Germany
It’s easier to listen to music than to grasp its definition via text. Nonetheless, we shall try to provide you with a description:
Every band can be assigned to a musical genre, so we will not deny our roots and influences. We call our music progressive metal, somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle between Dream Theater and Symphony X, Killswitch Engage and Unearth as well as Neal Morse and Porcupine Tree. Instrumental outbursts, complex songs and meters, heavy metal breakdowns but also easy, dreamy parts and musical diversity are the foundation of our style, our figurehead the abyssal voice and the virtuosic performance.
If you are still unable to imagine the sound, off you go to the Media and the Music page, you’ll find the downloads there!
We are equally a live band as we are a studio band. The finest art is to convince the audience in both disciplines. We shall give our best to achieve these ambitious goals.
The genesis of Blyndfold is a story of sudden quantum leaps and changes. Main part of this story is a variety of predecessor bands, which built the latest line-up of the band. Bene and Jan D. play together since 2004 and henceforward attended each and every band in the bloodline of Blyndfold. The first climax was reached with the band ‘Chapter 5’ (2008/2009), that firstly involved Flo. Through gigs and the self-produced ‘Ideas EP’, which sold over 250 copies, the progressive audience was initially interested in the combo. But again, the world moved on: In order to push the style towards heavier metal and more technical progressive music, the band was reformed, now featuring Jan B. and Philip, and renamed.
Due to the unconventional mixture of progressive, metal and core, together with the virtuosic instrumentalists and the exotic sub-bass vocals, Blyndfold invented and celebrates a musical style, which differs considerably from the actual rock and metal scene.
The band plays together since October 2009 and recorded the first demos. With the beginning of 2010, the records were published and the first gig was given.
